Happy Birthday Jordan

Jordan and I both took a shot at making a Rubiks Cube cake

Happy Birthday Jordan!!!!

You are now officially a teenager!

Sound the alarm we have a teenager in the house! Jordan had a wonderful birthday even though we were all either getting over or still had a nasty summer flu. Since we usually have a party the boys have gotten use to having a pyramid of ice cream sandwiches as the "cake" but this year he wanted to make his own. It took us weeks to decide between lego or rubiks cube. It didn't help that we had been spending many nights watching "Cake Boss" which is a TV show all about making elaborate, detailed, extraordinary cakes. We finally decided on Rubiks Cube but had no idea how to begin. Since I was so sick that left me with zero energy to come up with something creative. Luckily, Jordan didn't mind at all and even thought of it as fun and a challenge to create part of his cake. He spent a good part of the morning designing it. The boys spent most of the day swimming since we got him a snorkel set as a present. After decorating cakes, presents, and swimming we went to John's Incredible Pizza Co. for games, prizes and of course pizza. He had such a great day but we still promised to take him to Corvette Diner when we were all well. It wasn't exactly what we had planned for his "BIG 13" but a flu can strike at any time and we are so glad that he ended up having an awesome day!

Hip Hop Dance Class

Aidan and Noah both signed up for a free Hip Hop class at the Tierrasanta Rec. Center this summer. They both really love to dance. Its fun, liberating, and energizing. It makes them feel "cool" and a bit more grown up. They are not too interested in "competitive" dance. For them its an outlet besides a workout to simply enjoy. It was held every Tuesday for 8 weeks. Their classes were back to back. Noah went from 4-4:50 and then Aidan from 5-5:50pm.
Due to many trips this summer this missed a few weeks but still had so much fun without the pressure of being enrolled in a studio where they would have to perform in front of a large group. This was way more casual with a dance routine they simply showed the parents on the last day. It was a great experience for them both.

Sailing

I have to admit that one of my favorite things to do with Brandon especially as a date is to go sailing around Mission Bay. Its cheaper than going out to the movies if you can believe that and so much more satisfying. A beautiful sunny day, the warmth wrapping you up like a warm blanket, the cool breeze, the smell of suntan lotion, the sea water glistening .... its perfect. Brandon of course is the one who actually sails and I sit and soak it all in. It makes me feel so spoiled and lifts my spirits every time.

Can you tell they are having FUN?

This year Aidan and Jordan had the opportunity to go to Bass Lake with Grandma Andy and Grandpa Don while Noah and I were on the east coast. I am so glad that they went and had such a great time. They say a picture is worth a thousand words and these pictures say it all!!!
