My Brave boy!
The house is quiet and after our hectic evening its time to snuggle up in warm beds and get some rest. We were rushed tonight going from: Aidan who had scouts -to 15 mins of a quick dinner -to then rush off to the school which was having an "eat right event" -to then leave early and take Jordan to scouts-- well it didn't turn out as planned! I was very indecisive about going to the school we seemed so rushed and we really couldn't add another activity and fully enjoy it, however Aidan really wanted to go and I felt guilty for not at least trying to take them to this school event so we quickly ate our dinner which was only a sandwich due to the time crunch and off we went. To our surprise there were hundreds of people at the school - I guess when one offers free samples from places like olive garden and costa vida you will attract swarms of people and believe it or not there was even a line to get in and we were on time too!! So to pass the time while waiting in this line the boys, meaning Jordan and Aidan, asked if they could go look at the very first school picture which was in 2006 the year the school opened and a picture they are both in. As a side note, they both ironically have some sort of San Diego shirt on in the picture- Jordan a red Carlton Oaks shirt and Aidan a Chargers jersey. So off they went with a clear "and then come right back" from me as Noah and I continued waiting in line. Well of course they glanced at the picture, which was hanging on the wall 3 or 4 carpeted steps up in this sort of landing area near the stair case to the second floor, then since they are boys they started jumping off the steps- nothing dangerous or even note worthy really but THEN I called them back to join me in line since it had moved significantly- on their return Jordan sort of tripped, and to not land flat on his face he kind of stuck his leg out as if to step up on this little square brick fake pond that they have underneath the staircase. It once was filled with stuffed animal fish , fake water etc as a cute little nook, however now it was empty (the principal mentioned since it is directly below the open staircase dirt kept falling into it and it was filthy) Now one knows how boys are they always seem to be jumping off of something as if they are doing a trick with an imaginary skateboard or something- so he tries to step off this little brick pond while he is falling only to catch his shin directly on the corner!!!! He comes hobbling over to me in the line, I was only about a foot from him and saw it all, and we notice that there is blood on his jeans. He thinks its dirt from before however I keep getting a feeling that it was blood and sure enough it was! He had a deep gash the size of a dime and it looked really deep. So to make a long story short we went in to the cafeteria and quickly realized that we can't ignore this, found the principal she was embarrassed that they didn't have the proper supplies in the nurses office, we tried to wash it, putting his leg up over the sink, it really wasn't working too well and just seemed so deep. I took him to the urgent care and he received 3 stitches. The wound was deep enough to see the fatty tissue and had it been somewhere else on his body he might not of needed stitches but with the skin being so thin on the shin to prevent infection and scarring it needed to be done. After 30 mins the numbing gel didn't fully prepare the area so he was given two shots. I distracted him by talking to him about Nintendo Wii characters especially on Mario Kart that he likes , asking him question after question while blocking his view of the procedure. It was almost as if I was laying across his abdomen, per his request, he rally didn't want to see anything- He was pretty nervous but brave. He did great! So now we are home, he can't get it wet for 3 days (he just took a bath with his leg hanging out of it) and will have them removed in a week just in time for Thanksgiving- which by the way I am very grateful for the Dr.s who stitched him up, for my other boys who behaved wonderfully while this was going on and I am very grateful for health insurance it really came in handy tonight!!!Definity not the night we had planned but one we will never forget!
